"I can’t imagine a better place to stay and experience the Usambara Mountains from. A charming and peaceful place with the most beautiful views. Hamza and his team are bursting with energy and are incredibly welcoming and helpful. They make the place feel like home. Hamza arranges wonderful tours around the area and tailors them to his guests, rather than just taking them to the usual “must-see” spots.

Perfect for anyone looking for an authentic, calm and personal base in the Usambara Mountains. I ended up staying much longer than planned because it was such a lovely place. It has my warmest recommendations."

"We had a wonderful time in Lushoto! Hamza gave us a very warm welcome, picked us up at the bus stop and put together a programme tailored to our needs. We went on two day hikes and spent a day taking a cooking class at the eco farm. He was very helpful with our arrival and onward journey, organising tickets for the bus and ferry to Zanzibar.

The room and dining area were very cosy! In general, the food was amazing! Hamza and his colleagues prepared delicious meals and were extremely attentive to our wishes. We would recommend this accommodation to anyone and would come back again!"

We loved our time with Hamza and his team at Chameleon! When you arrive you immediately feel like you’re at home. The rooms are great, the view is even better! The communal area is perfect for relaxing with the view and hanging out with other guests. The food is amazing! These boys know how to cook! It was so nice to eat so much fresh fruit and veg after a month of travelling Tanzania. There is WiFi. Hamza is a great tour guide and we went on a beautiful hike with him and to a vineyard to taste some wine. You can also stroll to the town which is a nice walk (1hr) and jump on a boda boda back for 4000. We will have to return to see Hamzas big dreams expand!

"This place was great from start to finish. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with incredible views. Hamza, the owner, was extremely hospitable and friendly. He really takes care of his guests. I recommend going on trips with —he knows the surroundings really well and made our outings amazing. We went on a couple of guided hikes to nearby trails, visited local villages or the forest which is just behind the Chameleon with interesting stories along the way. All the meals were delicious, fresh, and tasty. Photos don’t do the charm of this hotel justice. I definitely recommend it and wish to come back."

"It's not the place for people who look for perfect 5-star hotel experience, but it's for people who look for perfect atmosphere, nature and views:) Room we stayed in was very nice, with balcony. "An amazing place with a perfect view, very close to the forest. It might be a little different from what you expect (mostly the shower), but for me that made the experience even better. Breakfast is super nice and for a few dollars you can also join the dinner which is equally good. I can really recommend staying here and take a hike with Hamza or Mahanyu. Magamba forest is wonderful and walking there with a guide made the experience 10 times better. Also Kisasa Waterfalls is beautiful and the hike towards it was very nice as well. The service at the lodge is very very good, they help you with everything, so no stress at all. 10/10 would recommend to stay here."

"A lovely place with a lovely house. The house is located almost at the top of the mountain and can be reached either by car or by local motorcycle taxi. The surroundings are beautiful, and there are several small paths leading up to the mountain, making it very convenient for hiking.
The host is an absolutely wonderful person — very friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. If you have any problems, you can just tell him directly. He even drove me to another mountain (we agreed on the price beforehand).
Breakfast and dinner at the guesthouse were both delicious, and there was plenty of sweet local fruit. The price for the stay is very reasonable. If you’re traveling to Lushoto, I would definitely recommend staying here."
